To Kynzie

Dear Kynzie

This is literally the first time I've written an English letter. I was taught how to write English letters in high school, but I refused to learn because I never thought I'd be writing one to an American girl. So… I googled it.

I'm feeling extremely vulnerable and insecure right now. I never expected I would be such a sentimental person. So I can totally understand how you're feeling.

I notice a lot, but I'm not always good at putting it into words. Let me try.

Do you remember the first time we met? It sounds like we meet a lot, but… haha. I actually waited for you for about 30 minutes, but I lied to you and said I hadn't waited for you too long. I was trying to act nonchalant. Honestly, you look even better in person than online. Pictures don't do you justice.

Then we looked for tonkatsu because you said it was your favorite. Unfortunately, we failed because of my lame brain GPS. We ended up eating something so bad that I can't even remember what it was. The only thing I remember is that you said you like eating green peppers, so I thought you could eat something spicy.

But the most interesting part was when we looked at the menu. We were looking at different sides of the menu at the same time. That was the first time I thought, “We're on the same wavelength.”

After that disappointing meal, we bought milk tea and sat down and talked. You showed me your tattoos, your handsome cat, the cakes you made, and told me about your lame ex. You said some other girl was staring at you, and maybe she thought she was prettier than you.

That was the first time I realized how sensitive you are. I wanted to say, “She's not,” but it took me a while to figure out the right tone. By the time I did, about three seconds had passed. As someone as sensitive as you, you would probably wonder whether I really meant it or was just trying to make you feel better. So I didn't say anything.

You mentioned you were planning to go hiking the next day, but your friend canceled. That's when I thought maybe I could go with you. (Damn, I'm so sleepy right now. It's 3:47 a.m. here.) And somehow, I managed to invite myself over to your place.

To be honest, I thought something might happen, especially after you mentioned something about the alarm. I still remember what you said:

"Someone tried to wake me up but he failed."

"Hhuhhh?"

"Hahahaha."

The next day, we went hiking! I had only slept for three hours. I was super drowsy on the train. Then you tickled me! It startled me, but I liked the way you tickled me. You have such long fingers.

(Damn, I can't stay awake any longer. I'll write it tomorrow. 2026-8-18-04:03)

And you stepped on my foot, which made the boring time on the train funny.

Then I had to prepare for my exam. To be honest, my affection faded away a little bit. But I believed that I would find that strong affection again.

I picked the wrong place, Ginza, which is boring as fuck. I did a lot of research because I wanted to find a place that was near you. I didn't know you had to work on Saturday! What a lame company!

That was the first time I ate Mexican food, and it was so delicious. Then we found a park to rest and talk. You asked me what I planned to do tomorrow, and I said I didn't know.

And we started talking about hobbies and dreams. I actually have lots of hobbies, but I was in a bad mood and forgot about them, so I said I didn't know.

Then you opened your phone and found hobbies for me. I almost cried, but I'm good at acting nonchalant.

I still keep going to the bouldering gym twice a week.

You said your ideal job is taking care of a house. I've never met a human kinder than you. I am planning to mention your name if I become a champion in the future.

At the end, you gave me a hug, which fully charged me.

I know you've mentioned going back to the States in a few months, and I don't know what that means for us, or if there even is an "us." I'm not trying to change your plans or make things complicated. But I need you to know that you've made me feel something real.

The kindness and love you give to the people around you make you seem like an angel. You deserve all of it back. And even if it's only for a little while, I want my kindness to be part of your life.

There are so many more little things I remember. I could probably tell you a hundred more stories like these, but I think I'd never finish this letter if I did.

Yours, Shier
